In 1983, Syd Mead held his first exhibition outside the United States, in Tokyo. Since that time, a selection of original catalogs from that exhibition have been kept securely in Syd Mead's personal archive.

In recognition of the soon to be re-released Studio Image series from Design Studio Press and Syd Mead Incorporated, we are happy to announce that we are opening THE VAULT to make available a select few of the original black catalogs from the 1983 exhibition Innovator in the Design of the Future at the Laforet Museum Harajuku in Tokyo, for fans of Syd Mead.

Collectors of the original 3-part Studio Image series will appreciate the importance of these original black catalogs from Syd Mead's first exhibition outside the United States which provided the inspiration for the famous Studio Image RGB series. Only ten of these original Japanese printed catalogs will be available in this offering. The Catalogs are from Syd Mead's personal collection, and will be accompanied by an embossed certificate of authenticity from the Syd Mead Archives.

The print quality of this folio is extremely high. It features a glossy black cover, vellum cover pages and several textured pages within featuring 36 of Syd Mead's images.
These are vintage items in excellent condition with very minor wear on the cover in places. Shipped flat in a box.
