Syd Mead's Running of the Six DЯGXX 1987 Vintage lithograph
These limited edition lithographs were produced by Oblagon in 1987. Syd Mead set aside a handful of unsigned pieces for his personal collection.
In Running of the Six DЯGXX, Syd envisions a future dog race at tremendous scale, engineered for total immersion. The dogs are mechanized, stand 20 stories tall, and rip through a futuristic megastadium track. Swing-away viewing pods propel spectators within inches of the racing machines, and fans equipped with handheld betting devices engage directly with the event, embodying humanity's timeless pursuit of ever grander, more intense spectacles.
This print differs from the 1983 World Sports Fair poster: it offers a closer rendition of the original painting's color scheme and is printed on heavier stock, without the text overlay. The World Sports Fair version was modified to add more golden tones overall.
In these lithographs the artwork is close to the original size, with generous white borders added for matting and framing.
